My dad was an operator and a pipelayer and, as I little kid, I’d come with him and ride in the equipment with a big smile on my face. When I was older, I helped him out with his own business operating the heavy machinery and laying pipe in a deep muddy hole. While deciding what I wanted to do for a career after high school, I did home remodeling, handyman repair, and home electrical installation to make some spare cash.
In construction, you are making something, something that has a purpose, from nothing. I love to learn new skills, and the past building experience inspired the artistic side of me to pursue a career in marketing. Working at a desk job is nice, but I still enjoy getting away from the computer screen and build something with my hands
